Robert F. Lorch, Jr. (PhD, University of Massachusetts) is Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University of Kentucky where he taught courses in behavioral statistics and cognitive science. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Research Fellowship; recipient of a Chaire d’Excellence Pierre Fermat from the Midi-Pyrenees Region of France; past secretary-treasurer of the Psychonomics Society; a fellow of the Society for Text & Discourse; and past chair of the University of Kentucky’s psychology department.

Bob’s research interests have been on text processing, particularly processing of expository material (i.e., textbook material), the underlying comprehension of text as a person reads, and the processes by which a reader retrieves text information after reading. More recently, Bob conducted research into elementary schools on science instruction.
